The Importance of Skincare
Skin is your largest organ and has a multitude of functions ranging from protection against bacteria, germs + injury to being responsible for sensation including pain + temperature. The skin is also responsible for detoxification + excretion of waste as well as temperature regulation, absorption, and secretion.
A good skincare routine using quality, natural products can help your skin look and feel its best.
A well-rounded skincare routine cleans your face of bacteria and dirt buildup which can contribute to acne and breakouts, ensures your skin receives adequate hydration to replace natural hydration loss due to aging, and also supports and protects your skin from looking dull, dry, and flakey by protecting your skin's moisture barrier.
You shed skin cells every day so to help your skin look its best, an intentional skincare routine can support the skin's natural processes as well as support natural aging by reducing fine lines + wrinkles as well as brightening + evening out skin tone.
It's also a great way to take some mindful moments each morning and night to treat yourself + connect with (+ take care of) your inner world.
Check out the Take Care Face Care 5-Step Routine to learn more.
Believe it or not, your skin is an outer reflection of what's happening in your inner world.
If you are experiencing stress, your body produces stress hormones which increase sebum production in your skin, which can contribute to breakouts.
If you are experiencing poor mental health and are not taking care of yourself physically by eating nutritious foods and staying hydrated, your gut + skin will suffer.
All of our systems are divinely connected and can impact one another if not functioning optimally.

If you are reading this, you have mental health - the question is whether you are taking care of your mental health or not.
Life is challenging and we all experience moments of difficulty, some may experience more distress than others for a variety of reasons and factors.
Taking care of your mental health is equally as important as taking care of your physical health, and the reality is - they are connected.
Taking poor physical care of yourself can result in experiencing a decline in your mental health and taking good care of your physical health can contribute to positive mental health.
It is also true that poor mental health can contribute to a decline in taking care physically, and vice versa - positive mental health can increase taking care of ourselves physically.

Why Non-Toxic Ingredients
Phthalates are chemical compounds used in the manufacturing of plastics, solvents, and personal care products.
According to the National Institute of Health (NIH), phthalate exposure in lab animals "has been found to be associated with numerous reproductive health and developmental problems such as:
- Early onset of puberty.
- Interfering with the male reproductive tract development.
- Interfering with the natural functioning of the hormone system.
- Causing reproductive and genital defects.
- Lower testosterone levels in adolescent males.
- Lower sperm count in adult males."
Any time you see "fragrance" or "parfum" know they are synthetic scents and have been chemically created.

Parabens are chemicals commonly used as preservatives in cosmetic products.
Preservatives are used to prevent the growth of harmful bacteria and mold and are necessary in certain skincare and cosmetic products; however, there are Paraben-free options and we choose to use those where preservative is required in our products.
According to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the parabens used most commonly in cosmetics are methylparaben, propylparaben, butylparaben, and ethylparaben, but are not necessarily labelled as such.
Check out our ingredients page to learn more about the ingredients we use.
Parfum and fragrances are synthetic and have been created in a laboratory and are therefore are chemical creations.
Essential oils are derived using a distillation process which uses the natural plant material to extract the plant's natural oil essence. It's important to note that essential oils are concentrated and potent and can be toxic if ingested, or used improperly.
We use essential oils in our products at the supplier's recommended usage rates.
Our ingredients page highlights the ingredients we use to make our products, including essential oils.
Yes, our products are vegan-friendly and cruelty free. We do not use animal ingredients in any of our products, and our products are tested on humans not animals.
All of our products are best used up to 12 months after manufacturing date.
Each of our products are labelled with the manufacturing date and are created in small batches to ensure freshness.
Making our products in small batches ensures our products are continually fresh for our customers.
Small batching also helps to reduce over-production waste by ensuring we are only making what we can sell within the 12-month best used by date.
Because energetics are also involved in the crafting of each product, small batches allows extra attention and love during the making process.
Our products do contain ingredients such as coconut oil, sweet almond oil, shea butter, neem oil, etc. Please reference the ingredient list detailed on each product page or refer to our ingredients list HERE to see if our products are suitable for your use.
Take Care Apothics is not responsible for any skin reactions or irritations that may occur. It is up to the customer to know what their sensitivities are and what works for their individual skin.
The terms "organic” and “natural” do not have legal definitions in the cosmetic industry and thus companies can say that a product is natural or organic when in fact there are little to no natural or Certified Organic ingredients in the product, or there are a select few alongside harmful, toxic ingredients - kinda defeating the purpose wouldn't you say? Marketing can be sneaky like that, and that's why we believe in ingredient transparency and have our ingredients page that helps you break down the ingredients in our products.
Take Care Apothics chooses ingredients based on their safety and environmental sustainability. We consult with the Environmental Working Group's (EWG) Skin Deep® product and ingredient database when choosing products for our ingredients.
You can check out the database here: https://www.ewg.org/skindeep/
While our products are not Certified Organic, we use Certified Organic, Non-GMO, Pesticide-Free, or EcoCert ingredients whenever possible. There are certain ingredients such as charcoal, clays, and preservatives you can't find organic. The Certified Organic Non-GMO, Pesticide-Free, and EcoCert ingredients are marked in the ingredients listing with an asterisk.
Anytime water is introduced to a product, a preservative must be used to ensure that harmful microbial growth (ie. bacteria, yeast, fungus) does not begin to develop in the products.
Preservatives (paraben free) are used in the smallest quantities required to provide the safety and protection the products need, typically at a .5% - 2% rate.
If you’re pregnant or breastfeeding, Take Care Apothics recommends consulting with your doctor, midwife, or naturopath before starting any new product to ensure safety for you and your baby.
